Taking an Active Role in Our Community

Bush Construction enjoys helping others in the Quad Cities area. While we have received recognition for giving back to the community, our greatest reward comes from knowing we’ve made a difference in the lives of those who needed us.

This season, the Bush Construction team is giving back to three organizations that help to make a difference in the community that we call home.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Putt-A-Round, January 19-21

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley helps children realize their potential and build their future, working to nurture children and strengthen the community. In the Quad Cities area, BBBS is changing children’s perspective by matching them with a mentor that is positive and encouraging.

The Bush Construction team was excited to help further BBBS’s mission by participating in their annual Putt-A-Round event, held in the Great Hall in the RiverCenter. During the event, 27 local companies designed mini-putt holes to create an amazing and creative mini golf course to raise funds for BBBS mentoring programs.

In our 6th year participating, we sponsored a hole we had designed, provided Olde Towne Bakery cookies for everyone during Big / Little night and sponsored two mini-putt teams from our office to golf on Friday afternoon. With 80 percent employee participation on volunteering through set-up, networking, golfing on a team or tearing-down the hole, our team was excited to extend a hand to a local organization that needed our help.

We’re proud to say that through the event, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley was able to raise $70,000 for their mission!

Junior Achievement of the Heartland Bowl-A-Thon, February 27

Junior Achievement of the Heartland serves 24 counties in Eastern Iowa, Western Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, helping to teach children financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work-readiness. Throughout the year, there are a few Bush Construction employees that volunteer for classroom teaching of the Junior Achievement curriculum to students of all ages within the Quad Cities schools.  Although our team volunteers for Junior Achievement throughout the year, this will be the first time we have participated in their annual Bowl-A-Thon.

Through their annual Bowl-A-Thon event, the Bush Construction team is able to help raise funds to further the JA mission. We have six teams of five employees each participating in the event, and everyone participating is already working on reaching their fundraising goals!

We had a great Saturday of fun at Miller Time Bowling in Davenport, and knowing our group, there was a lot of friendly competition between the Bush teams!

HAVlife™ Martini Shake Off!™, February 18

Bush Construction is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the 2016 HAVlife™ Martini Shake Off!™ - a fun, local event that raises funds to help prevent lost potential in our youth. As the presenting sponsor for the past several years, the team at Bush is thrilled to be participating in this signature event in the Quad Cities, all allowing youth to experience life to the fullest—increasing their participation in athletics, music and the arts.

Our team loves that each volunteering event we participate in is with organizations that are building young lives, and providing so much future potential in the community we live in. We are building a stronger internal Bush Construction team each time we have these opportunities to rally together and give back, while having an awesome experience at the same time!
