Building our Community

Bush Construction is proud to be working on the creation of another asset in our community—The Village Cooperative of Crow Creek in Davenport.  A $13 million, 150,000 square foot, 61-unit senior living community, The Village Cooperative will bring a much-needed facility to the Quad Cities region, allowing active and independent senior citizens a thriving community to call home.

“What’s unique about The Village Cooperative project is that each resident will truly have their own space in the building,” says Wayne Gordon, Project Manager at Bush Construction. “Not only will each senior resident own their apartment unit rather than renting, they will also have a lot of extra features, like their own parking space in an underground garage, complete with an elevator to take them directly to their floor. Their amenities also include the care and keeping of the grounds which means that residents won’t have to worry about mowing the grass or shoveling snow.”

Bush Construction is proud to have been involved in this community asset from start to finish. After initial contact with Real Estate Equities Development LLC, the real estate developer and architect, Bush was selected for this project due to our quality, experience and involvement in the region’s growth.

“It means a lot to the Bush Construction team to work on this high profile project in our community,” explains Gordon. “Along with producing a quality project on time and within budget, we also want to be cognizant of the neighbors surrounding this project. It’s our job to be good community stewards, building this project for future growth. During the process we ensure that the Bush team is respecting those around us when we are working on building a new community asset.”

From the beginning, the quality and safety of this project has been the number one priority for the Bush Construction team. In order to build on a foundation of quality, Bush contracted with Team Services to test the concrete, masonry and soil at the site to ensure the foundation and materials met and exceeded the standards set out for the project.

“For every project, we have a superintendent on site that manages all of the quality and safety elements of the pre-construction and construction,” explains Gordon. “Taking this extra step is just one of the many aspects of the Quality Control program at Bush.”

With the project expected to be completed this October, there is currently a lot of action happening on the job site for this one-of-a-kind project. Here’s what’s currently happening at The Village Cooperative site:

  • Crews are working to install concrete in the basement, which will function as a parking garage for residents
  • Drywall is being installed on the walls of each of the five, 30,000 square foot floors
  • Painting of the interior will follow the drywall installation
  • Crews are working hard to begin the exterior of the building, including the addition of stone, brick and siding and the construction of the residents’ balconies and decks
  • Also on the exterior of the building, Bush Construction is proactively managing the installation of the site utilities, adding retaining walls and the paving of the building’s driveway

At Bush Construction, we take pride in every project are able to work on, especially those that help our community grow with needed assets. To learn more about the details of The Village Cooperative Project, please visit our website.
